canoe-kayak & climbing park

Canoe and kayak rentals in Pont d’Ouilly have been run by our association since 1982. We have both full time employees and volunteer staff ready to welcome you, help you learn and share their passion for our activities and region with you.

Discover the Norman Switzerland, with its deep valleys, rolling hills and lovely countryside with a trip in a two person canoe or a one person kayak. You can rent for one or two hours, or even go downriver for 5 or 12 kilometres in a day or half a day (return by minibus).

Down the Orne from Pont d’Ouilly to Clecy (half or full day)

This 13km trip lets you enjoy incredible Norman Switzerland landscapes, with its magnificent arches over 60metres high! The downriver trip is rich in history; you will come across old watermills, a paper factory, a textile mill, animals and rock walls almost 200 meters high. This is THE route to take in Normandy.

The return to the Base de Plein Air de Pont d’Ouilly is on the shuttle bus which will be waiting for you at Clecy.

2 hours trip down river to La Courbe

A perfect compromise between messing about in a boat near base and the full descent to Clecy, this option lets you shoot the weirs at Pont d’Ouilly and Moulin Neuf and venture further down to the hydroelectric barrage at La Courbe. This 5km trip gives you a good look at the Orne and its unique landscape.

Return to the Base de Plein Air by the minibus which will be waiting for you at La Courbe.

1 or 2 hour trips close to home

Get a taste of the riches of the Norman Switzerland at the confluence of the Noireau and the Orne just pottering about in your boat. Experience the tranquillity of the Orne between the Base de Plein Air and the weir at Le Bateau. These trips are ideal for families or people learning how to canoe or kayak.

Looking for something more daring? Then shooting the weirs at Pont d’Ouilly and Moulin Neuf is made for you. With a 2 hour rental you can tackle both and experience the thrills the Orne can offer.

Stand up Paddle

Straight from Hawaii, the Stand Up Paddle is the latest water sport. Standing on a surf board you use a paddle to move across the water: a novel way of boating. You can test your balance in 2km of water round the Base de Plein Air and have some fun.

For half-day canoe kayak river descents (5 km, 1, 2 or 3 hours), departures are between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. or between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

For descents of the Orne by canoe kayak for the day (4 hours or more), departures are between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Our high wire forest adventure in Normandy, Roche d’Oetre Orne Aventure, offers you an outstanding experience among the trees. About an hour away from Caen and the Landing Beaches, this adventure park is in the Roche d’Oetre protected area in Norman Switzerland. Located within a unique environment and breathtaking landscape, this tree adventure park has 8 different sorts of trails: Tyrollean, monkey bridge, Tarzan’s leap and more!

High wire forest trails

Perfect for beginners and harden sportsmen and sportswomen, discover our different high wire forest trails! From the age of 2, children can experiment with the free trail (provided they are accompanied by an adult). Beginners, at least 1m10 tall (3’8), start with our yellow trail. For the more experienced ones, warm up with your family with our orange, or even green trail, before taking on the blue one! You can access our trails after listening to a presentation of the site and a safety briefing. Participants must take an initiation trail, it allows us to evaluate your capacities and make sure the safety rules are clear. Adult who accompany minors must complete this trail too, even if they are not participating in high wire forest activities. Minors must be accompanied at all time by an adult, whether they are on the ground or in the trees.

Our “children” trails

Perfect for little ones, these two trails are accessible for children at least 1m10 tall (3’8). They will offer to little adventurers their first sensation of height! Parents and grandparents can accompany children on the yellow and orange trails and have a family adventure.

Our “teen-adults” trails

These trails are accessible for people at least 1m35 tall (4’5). After taking the initiation trail, you can either start with the yellow and orange trails to share the experience with younger people, or you can get down to business with the green trail. The rest of your ascent will take you step by step to the treetops. From there you’ll have a beautiful view of the Rouvre valley, and of the 118m sheer cliffs of the Roches d’Oëtres. Discover fun and crazy workshops during our trails. The bravest adventurers (at least 1m50/4’11 and 14 years old) will be able to test their skills on our black trail with its big leap; or even try our extreme trial beginning with a sleek rope 7m high up!

Netted areas

Two netted area are available for young adventurers. The first one (60m²) is dedicated to children from 4 to 7 years old, the second one (90m²) is for children aged 8 and up. Perfect to end a day of adventures, our giant trampolines don’t require specific safety gear (harness or anything else). Within them, you can safely move around more than 5m high! Access to netted areas is included in high wire forest tickets.
